FIRST LEGO Robotics (Pre-Registration)
(Grades 1-3 and 4-8, September to February, Meets Saturdays AM)
During the 2024-2025 FIRST season, FIRST DIVE, teams will use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans. If you are in grades 1-3 you'll pursue the FIRST LEGO Explore program. If you are in grades 4-8 you will pursue FIRST LEGO Challenge program. Join us as we explore the future of our oceans!

Eligibility: Any Maine student may join one of our two LEGO programs geared for two age groups - grades 1-3 and grades 4-8
When: Saturdays 9:30AM-11:30AM (September through December); Select Saturdays (January through February for State Championship Prep.) Permission slip and payment completed at September kick-off, September 21st.
Season Costs*: $289 single student, $250 multiple students; Bring a new friend and receive $50.00 off registration. *Need-based scholarships and work grants are available allowing no student to be left behind. See Pre-registration form.
Where: Maine Mall #66 (Outside entrance to the left of Round One Bowling & Mall's food court entrance)
What's included: includes custom team t-shirts, weekly snacks & refreshments, all LEGO components, and special events invitations, and at least 14 Weeks of directly mentored instruction in teams of 4-6 students for LEGO challenge. LEGO Explore will meet for 11 sessions in closely mentored structured problem solving:
- Exploration of STEM and Ocean Sciences Careers
- Introduction to Strategic Game Planning
- Introduction of Basic Mechanical Principles
- Introduction to Sensors and Motor Control
- Introduction to Coding For Robotics
- Mock Inter-Team Practice Battles
- Engineering Notebook and Take-Home Training Materials
- Competition and Judging Preparation and Rehearsal
