STEM Coliseum Training
Courses
Build your skills, get certified on equipment, etc.
This course (odoo content, videos, in-person presentations, and proficiency demonstrations) are intended to give students, mentors, and others a very basic understanding of how to safely use a Milling Machine. No one will become a skilled machinist from this course alone, nor will participants be able to come close to learning about all that a milling machine can do. The course is intended to convey basic safety and machining content to enable participants to machine parts suitable for use on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) robot.
This essential safety training is designed for all members and visitors of the STEM Coliseum to ensure a safe and productive environment. Participants will learn the fundamental safety protocols required for the use of our facilities, including the machine shop, electronics lab, FAB and VR labs, 3D printing areas, core hand tools, and benchtop machinery.
The course covers proper equipment handling, personal protective gear, emergency procedures, fire safety, and facility-specific guidelines to mitigate risks and prevent accidents. Additionally, the training will address safety practices for using our playing field, ensuring safe operation during group projects and hands-on activities.
Completion of this training will serve as a prerequisite for all machine-specific orientation and training programs offered at the STEM Coliseum.
The goal of this document is to present the viewer with an overview of the STEM Coliseum Safety Independent Authorized User Training Process
