Intro to Engineering Concepts and Manufacturing (2 Weeks, July 29 To August 9)
Next Session: 2 Week Summer Session, July 29 To August 9.
Cost: $250/week (Collected on first day of course, cash, credit, or check. Need-based scholarships are available at time of pre-registration.)
Details: This two week program engages 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students in the exploration of the engineering and design process while introducing them to a variety of manufacturing processes and equipment as they design, build, and compete in an exciting robot competition. A great way to find out if you like thinking and working with robotics, design, programming, and hands-on building before the school year starts.
Explore the range of engineering fields while preparing to compete in an exciting robot competition at the end of two weeks. Develop your competence and self-confidence as a beginning design engineer and use 3-D printing, machining, electronics, electrical wiring, and programming controls to make your ultimate competitor bot.
Taught by 23-year veteran engineering mentor John Kraljic, this course emphasizes the creative design process, the application of physical laws, and fundamentals of basic machines. As is the tradition, the course will end in a final robot competition, in which students compete against each other to see whose robot can win the most total points
