Sensors, Code & Connected Devices — Grades 7+

Interested in learning about electronics, but don't know where to start?

This is the course for you!

Sensors, Code & Connected Devices is a hands-on electronics camp that introduces students to the exciting world of embedded systems and the Internet of Things. Using an ESP32 microcontroller and the Arduino development environment, students will wire real sensors and components on a breadboard, write responsive code, and build their very own working smart device by the end of the week. No prior electronics or coding experience is required, just a curiosity for how connected technology works.

Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, students will:

• Set up a coding environment and connect to an ESP32 microcontroller

• Wire and read common inputs like buttons, temperature sensors, and distance sensors

• Control outputs including LEDs, buzzers, and servo motors

• Write beginner-friendly code using functions, libraries, and timing

• Add display elements to make their device interactive and observable

• Build and demonstrate a working smart device project
